Ordering inventory soon!

As soon as we find out when our lease will be commencing we're going to start ordering our inventory for the store. We already have a couple of meetings with manufacturers' representatives scheduled for the first days of June. You might have already seen our survey. If not please fill it out and let us know your must-have brands...or you can comment here or on our Facebook page. Thanks!

Licensed!

Urban Wolves LLP is now licensed for business in the state of Washington. We've started making contacts with supplier representatives and are ready to start ordering inventory as soon as we find out about the space we're trying to lease. Very exciting but there's still a lot to do!

Furniture shopping!

Today we were on a mission to outfit the store with furniture for customer workspaces. I won't share the floorplan until after I'm sure we're getting the space we've been eyeing but here are some pics of the furniture we'll have in the store.

First up is the table for our "group project area". It's a tall dining table with extra leaves and six padded stools. Very comfy, even for long periods, we think! We'll add more stools later when we see how many we might need.

Next is the "refreshment stand". It's a pretty simple sideboard with plenty of room for a Keurig, K-cups, donuts or pasteries, tea, sweetener, etc.

And, finally, seating for "individual work areas". We ordered four of these comfortable leather armchairs. They'll be placed in pairs with an end table - and maybe a lamp, depending on how our final lighting situation looks.

Then there are also two of these leather occasional chairs. Pull one up to a group and join them or work by yourself over by the front windows. Comfortable and light enough to move around as desired.

And, last but not least, this beast: the "cuddle chair"! We're not sure if it's better for knitting or napping. Either way it's the most comfortable piece of furniture you've ever curled up on. I think we may have to institute some sort of lottery seating because of this one!

Hopefully we get some good news on the property we're looking at leasing come Monday and I can share some information about the space and how we plan to use it. Until then!

Please take our short survey!

I'd like to invite Vancouver and Portland yarn fans to take our short survey:

Hello Vancouver!

Urban Wolves Fibre Arts Logo
Urban Wolves Fibre Arts is Vancouver's newest (and, the last time we checked, only) yarn boutique. We're so new that we don't even have a location yet!

Don't worry though: we're actively looking for a retail spot in beautiful downtown Vancouver and are about to enter into negotiations for a property in an historic building on Evergreen Blvd. If all goes well we'll soon be counting down to our grand opening! Stay tuned to this blog and our Twitter and Facebook feeds for the latest news about Urban Wolves Fibre Arts!

Christine and Michael
In the meantime, please allow us to introduce ourselves. Christine and Michael Arrington are long-time residents of Vancouver and live in the Felida area. They've spent the last few decades building successful careers in the field of market analysis looking at consumer entertainment content and technologies ranging from movies and video games to graphics semiconductors and virtual reality. Sound exciting? Not really!

Urban Wolves is the realization of the dream to step away from the world of ROIs and CAGRs and get involved full time in the world of creativity. How better to do that than introducing what we hope will be the best little local yarn store in the Portland metro area?

Christine is a knitter, crocheter, and fiber spinner and is beginning to explore the art of dyeing fiber. Michael is just learning to knit but has been a supporter of and an active participant in Christine's hobby over the years and has picked up a little knowledge about yarn along the way. He also enjoys cross-stitching, embroidery, sewing, and a number of other creative pastimes that don't involve string.

Urban Wolves will, of course, carry a wide selection of high-quality yarns from all of your favorite vendors as well as the tools for working with them. We're looking to carry fiber, yarn, tools, and equipment especially from small local vendors in the Pacific Northwest. Over time we'll introduce classes and project kits for customers of all skill levels. We want our store to be a comfortable place where you and your friends can come shop, practice your art, and relax.

We look forward to sharing a cup of coffee or tea with you and seeing your work!
